Custom Fabrication Design
An exterior cedar monument sign designed to reflect the design ethos of the property developers and to tie in with the architectural finishes of the building. The client's brief was to create a sign that felt modern and clean, that showcased their logo and that would stand the test of time.
The finish of the cedar is shou sugi ban; a technique for weatherproofing cedar that results in a deep charcoal finish. The cedar is made to fit neatly into the custom concrete pedestal, which conceals internal LED illumination. The logo was routered from inside the cabinet with a notched pocket to allow fasteners and backing for the cut acrylic letters to sit flush with the cedar face. The success of the final outcome came down to the detail orientated approach to the technical design, ensuring a neat finish and fit of all components.
